Time Management Skills up to snuff?
You have finally done it!
You have made the decision to quit your 9-5 job, fire your overbearing boss, and now you don’t have to spend 2 hours a day on a crappy commute.
You are a “Full Time” Network Marketing Entrepreneur now!
As Mel Gibson says in “Braveheart”;

Now what?
Time for the Time Management basics.
Working from home is FANTASTIC!
You get to wake up whenever you want!
You can wear whatever you want.
You now have the freedom take breaks, eat, and call whoever whenever you want WHENEVER you want.
MANAGING FREE TIME in MLM ISN’T EASY THOUGH! (c’mon..you didn’t think that the $300 initial investment would be easy did you?)
Take for example a small story of a guy that I had sponsored a while back.
His name is Warren:
Warren used to work a construction job, beating rocks all day for a living, and hated it. He complained to his wife at least twice a day about the long hours. Warren promised his wife and kids that he was going find a way to spend more time with them if “It was the last thing he did.”
I approached him a little while later with his solution. I sponsored him into my opportunity and got him started.
Warren kicked ass, sponsoring 30 new associates in 3 months and found that his “part-time” income matched his full time income. He was able to quit his job and now he was working from home and LOVING IT. He woke up whenever, got around to his business whenever, took lunch whenever, spent time with his family whenever, and went wherever he wanted – whenever
Warren’s business suffered and he only sponsored 3 people the next month. What happened?
A network marketing internet business requires the same applied dedication as a traditional small business. If you don’t manage your time – you are setting yourself up to fail.
You need a good time management plan. Not only in a Network Marketing Business…but business in general. Do you think that Trump, Buffet, or Rohn, wake up and just go with the flow. Hell no – and that’s why they are successful!
A network marketing internet business requires a good time management plan. This is where the 4 disciplines for time management come in to the converstation. You have swapped your crappy job for a life fulfilling business venture. So cleverly I have named my time management plan the “SWAP” plan:
These are the 4 disciplines for time management:
#1 of the four disciplines for time management
“Schedule Discipline.” THIS IS INSANELY IMPORTANT!! Set a daily work schedule complete with specific hours. I don’t care if you set it with all kinds of wacky hours or if you just set you schedule for a 9-5 day.
Whatever it is, set the damn schedule!
Whatever hours you set, let everyone know that those hours are your “Work Hours”. Stick to that philosophy. Don’t let little Johnny or Sally come busting into your office constantly with the “Hey Daddy – Look at this” or let your Wife coerce you into going out to breakfast every day when you should be working.
Set your schedule for each day the day before. Before you turn in for the night, make a list of your tasks for the day. Place them in order of importance. Don’t fall for the trap of doing tasks which are the easiest because they will kill your productivity levels and give you a false sense of accomplishment.
#2 of the four disciplines for time management.
“Work Area Discipline”. As much as I know you would love to work your business while laying lazily in your king sized bed, you can’t. Its too damned comfortable. Answering an email every once in a while from the comfort of those 1000 thread count sheets is nice but you need to have a work area. A work area is a place where you can plop you rump down and have access to every tool you need to successfully run your business.
Phone, pencil and pens, paper, computer – you know things that make up an office. You are now working from a home office so be sure to GO TO YOUR OFFICE!
#3 of the four disciplines for time management
“Action Discipline ” – Your probably thinking “What the hell is action discipline”. It is when you get to you Work Area and perform your magic. DO WORK! Just getting to your Work Area and sitting there isn’t enough. You need to take action that is business related and make sure that those tasks will benefit your business. Games do not do that. That means no solitaire or minesweeper.
#4 of the four disciplines for time management.
“Phone Discipline”. Taking phone calls is a must in Network Marketing (or any other business). Keep it work related. Don’t be “Chatty Kathy” on the phone during your work time because it takes away from time that you can be calling prospects and leads.
Your girlfriends can wait – plus..no one likes to be the “broke girlfriend” and you will be if you don’t dedicate time to your business.
– Using the “SWAP” method to Time Management will help you and your business. It will help you in making sure that you are on task and productive throughout the day.
